Tales of Timmy in Budapest

Saturday brought us the much anticipated return of our 10 year old son, Timmy and his Nana and Papa, who have been at a mission conference in Hungary for the last week or so.  This was Timmy's first international travel, and he was thrilled to get to go.  After the worst of the jet lag had worn off, we gathered for a celebratory meal on Sunday after church.  We enjoyed steak, potatoes, green beans (Timmy's favorite), cranberry orange bread and chocolate bundt cake.  It doesn't get more normal and "American" than that...except no apple pie.  I didn't have time for apple pie.  Anyway, he began talking about his adventure midway through the meal, and it turns out that it ALL was an adventure for him.  By the time we were through dessert, he'd almost gotten through the first plane ride to Amsterdam!

We loved hearing about each little detail, which I will share with you when I get his pictures from his grandparents, but for now....

I'll tell you how we, for the sake of comfort, adjourned to the sunroom...and the older kids.....

...immediately made themselves...

...very.....

....very....

...comfortable.
Now before you judge them.....
.....they'd just had a HUGE meal....
...and it was Sunday afternoon.....
.....and Timmy was a bit detailed....
...rivetting mind you...but very meticulous in his recounting...

More details...

She's listening carefully...

Still listening....

...and hour and a half into it and we are almost to the middle of the third day!  I stand corrected when I wondered how much he'd remember....He remembers EVERYTHING!  And hopefully by getting to tell it a couple of times, he'll remember it long term!

Then there was the postcard presentation...32 postcards!
Did you know that Budapest has some gorgeous architecture?  It's beautiful~!

Here's a bit of Timmy Trivia for you:  Did you know that Budapest is made of two parts?  Buda is one half...the hilly half, and Pest (spelling) is the flat half.  There's a river between.  Interesting.  I have lots more, but I'm waiting for the pictures.

Then it was time for Timmy to show his new skills as an illusionist!

Since he wasn't getting QUITE the response he wanted, he prompted us all to clap.
"Time for you to clap now..."

Then it was time for carefully chosen gifts!  Just ask Nana how carefully chosen these are...because she was the one who helped my careful, loving, perfectionist son choose each one.  This never happens quickly.  Try shopping with him sometime for a birthday gift for a friend...

Paprika!
One of these these three is extremely spicy!
Anybody read Hungarian?
What a lovely afternoon we had.  It was a delight to see Timmy's delight at telling about his many adventures, which I will be blogging  about in the future.  He was so busy telling us that he missed eating his chocolate cake....poor boy!

Keep your eyes open for more from "Tales of Timmy in Budapest."
